About the Role:

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Project Officer to join our Continuous Improvement team based in Port Moresby. This role primarily exists for coordinating and delivering business improvement projects that enhance operational effectiveness, process efficiency, governance, and customer outcomes across the organisation. The role leads and supports process management initiatives, gap analysis, policy and procedure development, standard work implementation, and continuous improvement projects using Lean, CPS, and process improvement methodologies to drive sustainable business performance improvements.

Reporting to the Country General Manager, PNG & SI, the Continuous Improvement Project Officer will be responsible for:

  • Ensure safety goals are achieved through personal commitment, no harm to self or others and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Display fairness, exhibit trust and create real teamwork and sharing.
  • Proactively seek and maintain collaborative working relationships with peers and managers to deliver results.
  • Ensure opportunities for continuous improvement are identified and reported
  • Develop, review, implement, and maintain business policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), standard work, and governance documentation to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational excellence across the organisation.
  • Conduct business process reviews, process mapping, and gap analyses to identify inefficiencies, risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improving operational performance and customer outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, improvement initiatives, risks, actions, compliance requirements, and realized benefits, ensuring effective governance and timely escalation of issues where required.
  • Manage document control and process governance frameworks, ensuring business documentation remains accurate, current, accessible, and compliant with organizational standards.
  • Carry out CPS Green Belt project tasks as assigned by Management
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, workshops, training, and change management activities to support the successful adoption and sustainability of process improvements and business initiatives.
  • Apply Lean, CPS, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve process effectiveness, standardize work practices, and deliver measurable business benefits.

About You:

Education/Qualifications:

  • Project Management certification or equivalent knowledge.
  • CPS Lean Yellow Belt certification.
  • Lean Green Belt, CPS Green Belt, or equivalent Continuous Improvement certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Administration, Operations Management, Organisational Development, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in continuous improvement, business process management, project coordination, or business analysis.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience applying Green Belt methodologies.
  • Experience delivering improvement initiatives from planning through to sustainable implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience documenting business processes, SOPs, procedures, and policies.
  • Working knowledge of Lean, CPS, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, process mapping, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Experience in mining, heavy industry, logistics, construction, or service operations.
  • Proficiency in process mapping and workflow management tools.
