COPIER TECHNICIAN (LAE BRANCH)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Copier Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a range of office equipment including copiers, printers, scanners, and related devices. You will diagnose and repair equipment issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and support our customers to ensure smooth operations at all times.
Your role ensures businesses experience reliable and uninterrupted performance from their office machines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installation & Setup: Unpack, install, and configure copiers, printers, scanners, and office equipment
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and fix issues—from basic paper jams and toner problems to advanced mechanical or electronic faults
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
- Customer Support: Provide quality customer service, answer queries, and train users on device functions
- Inventory Management: Maintain adequate stock of parts and supplies for efficient service
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new copier technology, tools, and repair techniques
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate with relevant technical certifications (HP, Konica, Canon, Xerox, Lexmark, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years solid work experience as a Copier Technician, preferably in retail or ICT
- Must be residing in Lae or willing to relocate (accommodation not provided)
- Strong technical proficiency and ability to support customer inquiries
- Results-driven with passion for achieving service targets
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically fit to perform technical duties
- Willingness to train and support junior staff
- Valid driver’s license required

Company Description: Able started in Perth Western Australia in 1982 by Rick Kyle and Nick Taylor and moved to Papua New Guinea in 1984. In 1985, Able Computing (PNG) was incorporated by Geoff Lazberger with Rick/Nick and several others became individual shareholders in the company. Geoff Lazberger ran the company as CEO until 1989 when he left to return to Australia. The initial list of clients around the country used either accounting software CBA or Arrow. The company was awarded national distributorship for both CBA and Arrow and I had also built up a dealership with companies having large clients bases who’d be a target for our software (Deloitte, Coopers & Lybrand, Daltron, etc,)
