What you’ll do:

The Santos Upstream PNG Operations Division oversees safe, reliable, and sustainable production of operated and non-operated reserves in PNG, managing regulatory approvals, JV interfaces, and community relations. Fully enabled for stakeholder management, culture, performance, and project delivery, the division drives operational efficiency.

Within it, the PNG Development and Projects Department supports project execution through the Opportunity Delivery Process, with the Project Services Group providing central support across the PNG portfolio. The PNG Cost Analyst, based in Port Moresby, supports Production Operations, Maintenance, and Operational Support.

This position is located in Port Moresby.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Project Services: Support Finance, Operations, Maintenance, and Support teams with cost and contract governance, control systems, and best-practice project services.
  • Cost Control Systems: Ensure consistent application of Work Breakdown Structure, coding compliance, accruals, service entries, and invoice processing.
  • Budgeting: Assist with budget development and forecasting for long-term and in-year planning.
  • Reporting: Collaborate on cost reporting and analytics to support data-driven decision making.
  • Contract Administration: Support contract compliance, estimate reviews, and invoice validation in line with contract terms and policies.
  • Governance: Enhance internal controls for accurate cost coding, timely payments, and compliance across cost management activities.

What you’ll bring:

Bring substantial cost control experience across operation and project environments (Capex and Opex), and demonstrate proficiency in SAP, Prism, Power BI, or similar ERP cost control systems.

Technical Competencies for this role:

  • Extensive experience in project services, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of interfaces with commercial, procurement, planning, and project controls.
  • Effective communicator with experience presenting reports to varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and team collaboration abilities.
