Steamships Limited is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual to manage and oversee all customs brokerage services, ensuring excellent customer service throughout the import and export customs clearance process for East West Transport.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Customs Brokerage Manager located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, East West Transport, the Customs Brokerage Manager will primarily be responsible for:

• Managing and controlling the processing of customs brokerage services;
• Overseeing all aspects of the import and export customs clearance processes in Papua New Guinea. This includes compiling, brokerage and customer service within the system (Cargowise); and
• Ensuring excellent customer service is provided.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead and manage a team of Customs Brokers, Compilers, and Customer Service Officers to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with PNG Customs laws, regulations, and procedures throughout the customs clearance process, and keep the team updated on regulation changes.
• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of import documentation, including customs declarations, invoices, and other required paperwork.
• Advise clients on customs-related issues, provide solutions, and monitor customer service standards to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary information for customs and to resolve any issues related to Customs clearance.
• Train and coach, the team on PNG Customs processes and customer service best practices.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years management experience in the shipping industry.
• Proven experience as a Customs Broker or in a similar Customs compliance role.
• Hands on experience with a cargo documentation management platform, such as Cargowise or Softship.
• Import and Export Shipping Documentation, Customer Service experience or related forwarding and / or logistics experience in a similar capacity.

Qualification and Key Competencies

• Tertiary qualification in Bachelor's Degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, or a related field in Business, sales and marketing, shipping, or in another relevant discipline.
• It is essential to have a deep understanding of PNG Customs regulations, trade compliance, and import procedures.

• Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple stakeholders at management
