East West Transport under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual to manage and control the processing of the import and export customs clearance processes in Papua New Guinea. This includes compiling, brokerage and customer service within the system (Cargowise).

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. As a Customs Brokerage Manager, you are expected to have a deep understanding of PNG Customs regulations, trade compliance, and import procedures and including.

• Lead and manage a team of Customs Brokers, Compilers & Customer Service Officers
• Ensure compliance with PNG Customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Manage and extend an excellent service to customers.
• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of import documentation, including Customs declarations, invoices, and other required paperwork.
• Advise and give solutions on customs issues to customers.
• Check and supervise that team is applying correct customs tariff and Import regulations and execute any Import entries accordingly to the regulations of PNG Customs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary information for Customs clearance.
• Provide guidance and training to ensure the team is well-versed in PNG Customs processes.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Customs Broker or in a similar Customs compliance role.
  Minimum 5 years management experience in the shipping industry.
• Experience with a cargo documentation management platform, such as Cargowise or Softship.
• Import and Export Shipping Documentation, Customer Service experience or related forwarding and / or logistics experience in a similar capacity
• In-depth knowledge of PNG Customs regulations and procedures.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Tertiary/ Bachelor's Degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• Tertiary/Technical qualification in Business, sales and marketing, shipping, or in another relevant discipline.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Customer Service oriented.
• Organised and process oriented.
