Position Description - Dean of Distance Theological Education

Primary Purpose and Scope:
The purpose of this position is to promote and manage Bible and ministry training throughout Melanesia using TEE and other self-study training material. The Dean will supervise the TEE ministries of all three campuses and facilitate partnerships with churches and groups using TEE courses.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning
- Prepare and update the TEE Strategy
- Oversee the implementation of the TEE Strategy
- Evaluate TEE data and statistics to establish trends that impact the TEE Strategy
- Enlist prayer for the ministry of TEE through various networks and channels of communication
- Prepare an annual budget that will allow implementation of the TEE Strategy
- Recruit and Train Staff
- Supervise staff working inDTE department at Banz, Port Moresby and Lae.
- In conjunction with Admin Manager, assist in recruitment of staff for TEE as required.
- Liaise with Admin Manager to ensure orientation to College history, policies, and procedures.
- Liaise with Admin Manager regarding staff development.
- Conduct annual appraisals for each staff member.
- English and Tok Pisin TEE Course Development
- Report to the TEE Committee in regard to the TEE Curriculum and Course Development priorities.
- In conjunction with Vice Principal Education, identify and commission gifted writers to write new TEE Courses. Identify and invite individuals to form editorial committees for courses being developed
- Write new TEE Courses.
- Prepare guidelines for Course Writers.
- Arrange Study Awards and transcripts for TEE students
- Promote TEE and other distant theological education
- Prepare promotional materials such as the Prospectus, brochures, posters, tutor training materials and newsletters
- Write TEE newsletters quarterly and prepare material for the CLTC website.
- Visit church leaders and denominations to promote TEE.
- Maintain contact with Deans and faculty of all three campuses.
- Teach the TEE Tutor’s course
- Initiate and participate in TEE consultations for interdenominational and individual church gatherings.
- Negotiate partnership agreement with churches and groups concerning the use of TEE courses (in liaison with the VPE).
- Networking World Wide
- Establish TEE programs and new TEE centres throughout the South Pacific (in liaison with the VPE and DTE Committee).
- Maintain information links with other TEE, DTE or DE programs around the world
- Obtain relevant training or TEE course materials that may benefit the CLTC TEE
- Administration
- Ensure that TEE students receive a high quality service.
- Monitor and manage DTE budget
- Prepare annual reports for CLTC Council and other reports for CLTC Council
Executive or committees as required
- Organise DTE Committee meetings
- Prepare funding proposals for external agencies
- Write articles for College News and other publications as required
- Mobilize prayer through all appropriate channels and networks
Indicators of High Performance
- Increasing use of TEE studies and other training materials throughout Melanesia.
- Course materials are considered by church leaders as relevant and high quality.
- Sale of courses covers at least 50 percent of department costs.
Position Requirements:
- Academic
- BTh degree essential.
- Some studies in education are preferable.
- Experience
- At least 10-years of experience in theological education or pastoral leadership and teaching.
- Familiar with TEE ministry.
- Gift-Mix/Skills
- Good leadership and communication skills are needed.
- Ability to network and inspire.
- Ability to write Bible training materials.
- Personal
- Support for the mission of CLTC and passionate about Bible training.
- Strong Christian faith.
