Document Writer

Quest Exploration Drilling (PNG) Ltd is a leading drilling services company with extensive experience supporting mining and exploration operations across Papua New Guinea. QED (PNG) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Document Writer to join our Resource Redi team based in Lae. The Document Writer will provide administrative, logistical, document control and learner-support services to Trainers delivering the Risk Redi Training Program and the RII20920 Certificate II & RII31820 Certificate III in Drilling Operations training programs.

This is an important support role that ensures training sessions, workshops and practical activities run smoothly, while maintaining accurate training records, assessing documentation, learning resources and compliance records.

Key Responsibilities

Training Support & Logistics

  • Support Trainers during classroom, workshop and practical training sessions.
  • Set up training rooms, workshops and practical learning areas.
  • Prepare, print, organize and distribute handouts, workbooks, assessment tools, risk assessment templates, logbooks and other learning resources.
  • Manage training equipment, multimedia resources, first aid manikins, models and site simulation materials.
  • Provide logistical support for intensive 5-day theory blocks and occasional workshops.
  • Assist learners with general queries and feedback during training delivery.

Document Control & Records Management

  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records, learner databases, attendance registers, logbooks and portfolio evidence files.
  • Control document versions for learning resources, assessment tools, templates and program documentation.
  • Ensure training records are accurately maintained in accordance with applicable NNRTO requirements, AQF standards and internal quality systems.
  • Assist with compiling evidence for competency assessments, third-party reports and Statements of Attainment.
  • Archive completed training files and maintained audit-ready records.

Administration & Coordination

  • Perform general administration including printing, scanning, filing, data entry and correspondence.
  • Coordinate training schedules, room bookings, equipment bookings and resource preparation.
  • Support communication between Trainers, learners, workplace supervisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with course feedback, evaluation summaries and continuous improvement documentation.
  • Provide administrative support for travel, site inductions and logistics associated with on-site practical training.

Quality & Compliance

  • Support compliance with applicable Registered Training Organisation (NNRTO) standards and organisational procedures.
  • Ensure learning materials and training records remain current, accurate and properly filed.
  • Assist with internal audits, moderation preparation and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Business, Records Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using document management systems.

Highly Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).

The TAE qualification is highly desirable but is not essential for the position.

Required Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • Previous experience in administration, training support, document control or records management.
  • Experience within training, education, mining, resources or industrial environments will be highly regarded.
  • Experience supporting classroom or workplace training delivery.
  • Familiarity with training records, learner databases and assessment documentation.
  • Knowledge of NNRTO processes will be advantageous.
  • Experience handling confidential records and maintaining organised filing systems.

Additional Requirements

The successful applicant must:

  • Hold a current driver's licence.
  • Be able to work flexible hours during intensive 5-day training blocks and occasional workshops.
  • Be willing to provide logistical support at training facilities and operational sites when required.
  • Meet site induction and medical fitness requirements for access to industrial or mine sites, where applicable.
  • Be physically able to lift and handle training materials and equipment when required.

What We Are Looking For

This role will suit an organised administration or document-control professional who enjoys working in a training and operational environment.

You will play an important role in ensuring Trainers have the resources and support they need, learners receive an effective training experience, and all training and assessment documentation is accurately controlled and maintained.

Experience in drilling, mining, oil & gas, resources, industrial training or RTO environments will be advantageous, but candidates with strong transferable administration and document-control experience are encouraged to apply.
