World Vision International Papua New Guinea (WVIPNG) has exciting opportunity for those of you who want a change and want to become part of a dynamic team. We are currently looking for suitable, qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the role of Driver - X3 to be based in Central, Morobe & Western Highland's Province.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Safer Smarter Schools Project supports Papua New Guinea’s national education reform, including the 1–6–6 school restructuring, which focuses at improving student retention, completion, and learning outcomes from Preparatory through to Grade 12. WVPNG together with government and development partners is implementing a multi-sectoral education programme designed to improve and strengthen students safety, wellbeing, resilience and inclusion .
The purpose of this role is to ensure safe and timely mobility of World Vision staff which include Smarter and Safer Schools Project team and project partners and support all administration activities, visitors as and when required and to ensure Maintenance of vehicles and prepare and document vehicle related documents in an orderly manner. This position requires working overtime and over the weekends when requested.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Implementation
- All WV employees and guest have availed vehicles for travelling on time.
- Project Team are assisted to implement activities in the schools such as trainings, workshops etc.
- Activities are on-tract and targets achieved
- Project team and assets and supplies are properly secured when transporting to the site and are in good condition.
- Implementation of project activities after WV working hours and on weekends only upon approvals are supported
Conduct regular checks on Vehicles for status and Documentation
- All vehicles are physically and legally fit for driving in country.
- All log books kept and maintained on a monthly basis and all usages of vehicles are identified from sheets/books.
- Conduct maintenance and repair work on identified problem and/or defects.
- Do verification checks and inspection on vehicles prior to and after annual ‘C’ service by established service providers.
- Maintain vehicle-wise fuel consumption information
- All documents are the in the vehicle and no legal incompliance occurred.
- Maintain copies of documents in an orderly manner.
- Make sure that the security policy is respected
- Students in schools are receiving quality services from the project staff due to timely drop off of these staff
- The vehicle is kept clean and road worthy.
- Alertness and road safety is practiced at all times
- Be responsible to keep all vehicle documents like tax token, route permit, fitness and insurance certificates updated before expiry dates.
- Ensure all security clearances are given for the deployment of the staff.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Certificate in grade 10/12. Must have a valid driver’s license
- 3 years of driving experience
- Has valid driver’s license preferably class 6
- Experience in defense driving
- Some knowledge on vehicle maintenance
- Transport rules and regulations
- Safety and security rules and first aid measures.
- Basic Vehicle maintenance procedure
- Attentive and able to meet challenging experiences
- Oral communication skills in Pigin and Basic English.
- Able to work under pressure
