Earthwork Supervisor

HBS (PNG) LIMITED currently operates in numerous mine sites across PNG, both on the mainland and remote island locations. We own and operate one of the largest and best maintained mining fleets in PNG, offering the mining sector a variety of services including road construction and maintenance, haulage, lighting and crushing services and plant equipment hire.

We are taking expressions of interest for highly and suitably qualified individuals for the position of Earthwork Supervisor. Applicants must have experience within the mining and construction fields.

This role will involve:

1. Lead and supervise all earthworks and civil construction activities, ensuring excavation, filling, grading, compaction, roadworks, embankments, and backfilling are completed safely, efficiently, and to project requirements.
2. Coordinate personnel, subcontractors, equipment, and resources to achieve production targets while maximizing productivity and minimizing operational downtime.
3. Ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, survey controls, quality standards, and engineering requirements, including material placement and compaction standards.
4. Monitor project progress and performance, maintaining accurate records, reporting production outcomes, and proactively resolving field issues impacting safety, quality, schedule, or productivity.
5. Promote a strong safety and environmental culture through toolbox meetings, workforce communication, HSE compliance, risk management, and adherence to permit and environmental conditions.
6. Collaborate effectively with Surveyors, Engineers, QA/QC, HSE personnel, clients, and stakeholders to support inspections, audits, construction coordination, and successful project delivery.

The Candidate must have:

• Extensive earthworks supervision experience in mining, infrastructure, roads, dams, TSF, or heavy civil construction projects, with strong leadership of crews and equipment fleets.
• Proven technical capability in earthworks operations, survey interpretation, construction planning, productivity management, and delivery in challenging terrain conditions.
• Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Surveying (or equivalent relevant qualification) from a recognized institution.
• Valid PNG Class 3 or 6 Driver's Licence, with ASPNG membership or registration eligibility considered advantageous.
• Strong technical expertise in earthworks construction, heavy equipment management, quality control, survey interpretation, environmental compliance, and productivity monitoring.
• Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, including safety leadership, team management, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, resilience, and accountability.

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated based on applicant’s experience and skills.
