We are seeking a competent and flexible individual to fill the vacant position of Earthworks & Road Maintenance Supervisor. This position is based in Kimbe, West New Britain Province and reports to the Earthworks & Road Maintenance Manager.

EARTHWORKS & ROAD MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Job Purpose:

Earthworks & Road Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, budgeting, and supervision of civil construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Earthworks & Road Maintenance Supervisor is largely responsible for the daily allocation and control of road maintenance activities, the road fleet plant and equipment and the road fleet crew.
  • The Supervisor is also responsible to monitor and supervise contractors and sub-contractors that are contracted under road fleet.
  • Working closely with Earthworks Manager and the Project Engineers in preparation for annual budgets.
  • Observe and ensure OHS procedures are followed within the workplace.
  • Ensure quality checks are undertaken on completed tasks.
  • Assist in setting targets and scheduling projects.
  • Ensure quality checks on all equipment, tools and vehicles before use.
  • Overseeing plant operations to ensure safety, reliability and compliance with NBPOL’s environmental policies.
  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets and working schedules.
  • Interpreting and explaining contracts and technical information to other professionals.
  • Gathering and submitting reports on work progress and budget matters to clients.
  • Any other duties as directed by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma with relevant certificates in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related field.
  • 5 years or more experience in Civil and Construction industry.
  • Relevant certifications in OHS and knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to implement safety protocols on- site.
  • Proven experience supervising earthworks, road construction, and routine road maintenance activities, including grading, drainage works, gravel placement, and pothole repairs.
  • Ability to manage resources, coordinate teams and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Capability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring everyone is aligned on projects goals.
  • Proficiency in civil construction management, projects planning and quality control tools like AutoCAD etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with engineers, contractors and team members.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, road specifications, and maintenance standards.
