Education Media Production Assistant

Summer Institute of Linguistics Papua New Guinea (SIL-PNG) has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated professionals, including recent graduates, to join our dynamic team in Ukarumpa, Kainantu. We are seeking individuals with a servant heart who are looking for a challenge and change of scenery. This vital role supports the work of Bible Translation.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Education Media Production Assistant primary purpose is to support SIL PNG language teams and LE staff in the production, distribution, and archiving of vernacular educational materials across various media formats (print, digital, audio/visual). This position reports to the Director of Language Program Services and the EFL Media Trainer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn and apply principles of print and digital book creation, layout, and publication.
• Master relevant software (e.g., Publisher, Bloom, ActivePresenter, Reading App Builder) for production and training purposes.
• Acquire knowledge of intellectual property (IP) issues to educate others.
• Provide production support for vernacular literacy materials, utilizing strong cross-cultural communication skills.
• Support the Literacy and Education (LE) Section by assisting with material archiving, scanning, and photocopying upon request.
• Assist as a staff member during workshops run by the Literacy and Education Section.
• Assist SIL PNG language teams with the production and archiving of materials
• Familiarize yourself with office operations and provide ad-hoc support to the literacy office.
• Manage minor cash transactions and general purchases.
• Participate in and support Language Development and Services activities as required.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information and records accessed while working with language teams.
• Ensure full compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor or management.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in any domain
• Fluent in English & Tok Pisin (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing)
• Strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft office and general office software, including effective file management and email applications.
• Proficient touch typing skills.
• Experience with desktop publishing is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective cross- cultural verbal and written communication
