We currently have an immediate vacancy for a Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems, automation equipment, and production machinery within the Utilities Department at Goodman Fielder Lae. This role supports continuous improvement, reduces downtime, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards across the manufacturing site. Also Responsible for following up on work in the utilities area and coordinating the daily operations of generators, air compressors, and water treatment systems. Proficient in computer operation and able to independently operate equipment such as air compressors and generators.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, motors, drives, PLCs, and control panels.
• Diagnose electrical faults and implement timely solutions to minimise production downtime.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with PNG electrical standards and internal safety policies.

2. Automation & Control Systems

• Support PLC programming, SCADA systems, and automated production lines.
• Monitor and optimise machine performance through control system adjustments.
• Assist in upgrades, modifications, and commissioning of new equipment.

3. Project Engineering

• Participate in engineering projects including installations, upgrades, and plant expansions.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for electrical works.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.

4. Compliance, Safety & Quality

• Ensure all electrical systems meet safety, environmental, and food manufacturing compliance requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, JHAs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure audit readiness.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Analyse equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Recommend and implement solutions to improve reliability, efficiency, and energy usage.
• Support TPM, Lean, and other operational excellence programs.

To be considered for the role, you will need to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens/Allen Bradley), VSDs, sensors, and automation systems.
• Experience with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
