Your Impact

As an Engineer, Mechanical you'll play a critical role in improving the performance, reliability, and lifecycle value of key power generation and utility assets across one of the world's most significant mining operations. You'll use your expertise in reliability engineering, asset management, and data analysis to identify opportunities, solve complex equipment challenges, and drive operational excellence.

This is an opportunity to shape and build maintenance and reliability strategies from the ground up. Rather than simply maintaining existing processes, you'll have the autonomy to identify gaps, recommend improvements, and influence the future direction of asset reliability across critical infrastructure.

As part of our team, you will

• Conduct reliability assessments and analyse asset performance to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and optimise maintenance and asset management strategies for power generation and utility assets.
• Lead and facilitate root cause investigations to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
• Monitor reliability KPIs, trends, and emerging risks to support informed decision-making.
• Utilise data analytics tools and reliability methodologies to improve equipment availability and performance.
• Partner closely with operations, maintenance, planning, and technical teams to deliver sustainable reliability outcomes.
• Support asset health reviews, maintenance strategy reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and reliability engineering expertise to site stakeholders.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

To be successful, you will bring:

• Experience in reliability engineering, asset management, or mechanical engineering within heavy industry, mining, energy, utilities, manufacturing, or similar environments.
• Demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis and defect elimination activities.
• Experience developing, reviewing, and optimising maintenance or asset management strategies.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and recommend practical solutions.
• Experience monitoring performance metrics and developing meaningful KPI reporting.
• Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, and technical report writing.
• Exposure to SCADA or other operational data systems would be highly regarded.
• Relevant engineering qualifications and a passion for improving asset performance through data-driven decision making.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Your work environment

This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea.

Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp environment, with ensuite, air-conditioned accommodation equipped with a mini fridge, television and Wi-Fi. A variety of nutritious meal options are available through the on-site catering facilities, while recreational and social amenities provide opportunities to relax and connect with colleagues while on roster.

You'll join a collaborative team environment, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor while partnering closely with operations teams, maintenance technicians, planners, asset management professionals, and technical specialists. Together, you'll work on critical assets supporting safe and efficient operations across the site.
