About the role

NPL is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineer, Senior – Engineering Projects to support and lead the delivery of capital projects across the operation. This position reports directly to the Superintendent - Engineering Projects and plays a key role in providing technical leadership, project coordination, and engineering oversight to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The successful candidate will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in project execution, contractor management, stakeholder engagement, and safety performance while supporting NPL's commitment to operational excellence and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

● Provide technical support for all project phases viz. Initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control phases
● Manage and coordinate engineering activities across multiple projects
● Liaise effectively with contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders
● Develop project budgets according to the latest standards and submit for Approval for Expenditure (AFE)
● Monitor the costs to ensure projects remain within approved expenditure limits for various stages
● Prepare project plans, scopes, schedules, and engineering documentation
● Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
● Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements, and NPL policies
● Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in accordance with NPL's Occupational Health and Safety standards
● Support the successful delivery of Capital projects from conception through to completion
● Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL's Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health rules and procedures

About You

Qualification and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in engineering (any relevant discipline, e.g. Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Industrial)
● Minimum of eight (8) years' relevant engineering experience.
● Able to drive daily project standups, sprint reviews, and gate reviews and update directly from real-time project dashboards.
● Demonstrated experience in engineering project management and project delivery.
● Exposure to mining, construction, or heavy industry environments is highly desirable.
● Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
● Competent use of Project management tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project for project tasks and sub-tasks sequencing via network logic modeling identifying floats and slacks
● Proven track record of seamless cross-function coordination and able to function effectively on interdepartmental assignments as required.
● Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic operational environment.

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
