Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking to hire experienced 2x Engineers for our Engineering Department who respectively will be based in Port Moresby and Lae Operations respectively. The incumbent’s role oversees engineering projects in their region, manages teams, and ensures technical solutions meet IP needs. Required to lead in project planning, execution and ensuring the successful delivery.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Provides engineering leadership for the engineering team.
• Responsible for the project's deadline and budget.
• Oversee the work, necessary tools or materials, and labour needs to ensure adherence to the budget and deadline.
• Ensure that engineering processes are followed.
• Providing technical direction and engineering leadership for the project team.
• Contributing to the design and development of new products and features
• Ensuring that engineering processes are followed
• Maintaining product quality
• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technical aspects of the assigned projects, ensuring their successful completion on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to ensure project success
• Delegating tasks to project team
• Identifying and resolving technical challenges
• Reviewing and approving engineering designs and products
• Keeping teams motivated and on track with project goals
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve team performance and project outcomes
• Conduct code and design reviews to maintain high development standards and practices
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to product development and delivery

Candidate Requirements

The person we seek must have the following:

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
• 5 years of experience in project engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Good behavior & attitude
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and processes
• Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
