Job Description

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience for Advisor Senior - EMS and minimum of 10 years for Principal - EMS.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Environment Management Systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to address environment challenges

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and continual improvement of the EMS, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Drive EMS awareness by embedding environmental content across the business through inductions, ad hoc inspections, leadership, coaching, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Identify environmental hazards, implement controls, and manage environmental risks.
  • Maintain the NPL Environmental Aspects and Impacts register in consultation with area owners.
  • Develop and maintain an auditing, inspection, observation, and verification schedule, ensuring timely implementation and reporting within NPL’s management system.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to increase environmental awareness within the business.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations on EMS performance to senior management.
  • Plan and execute internal EMS audits.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the EMS across NPL by developing appropriate KPIs.
  • Lead incident investigations according to company policy, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and complete post-incident verifications.
  • Promote environmentally sound work practices among peers and contractors, ensuring all environmental requirements are complied with and maintained.

Mobilization Requirement

  • This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
  • Rotation is FIFO, 21 days on and 14 days off
  • Must have an up to date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
  • A current PNG driver’s license.
