K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role

Joining our ERT team at Kainantu you will develop and ensure the continuous improvement of safety best practice in line with K92 Mining Limited ’s Safety System. As well as developing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in ERT & Security strategies, systems, and practices to optimise effectiveness.

Key Accountabilities

  • Proactively engage with the ERT officers to provide ER advice and support to the ERT Teams to ensure ERT rescue equipment availability and reliability targets are achieved and optimised against budget.
  • Control and communicate Equipment Product Bulletins.
  • Coordinate program for management of critical spares to ensure parts availabilities.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls for fire and rescue within the mine site area, underground or in the field as required to ensure safety and rescue on equipment or lives is minimised.
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify and remedy issues that may arise.
  • Support and assist the ERT team to ensure the rectification of identified defect ERT equipment to improve and optimise availability and reliability targets.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent APD to assess performance and identify improvement projects to maximise results, reduce risk and implement cost management initiatives.
  • Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
  • Appraise and evaluate direct reports in accordance with K92 Mining Limited ’s Work Performance systems process by providing individual performance feedback, giving guidance and direction, and developing and agreeing on improvement plans
  • Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.
  • Direct and train employees on the ERT process, procedure, and Equipment.
  • Continuously mentor and coach technicians on effective repair techniques.
  • Identify skills gaps and training requirements and assist in developing training packages as required to close the skills gap.
  • Coordinate and assist with the delivery of training to employees including personnel of the ERT Team’s customers.
  • Actively review the work performance of ERT officers and provide feedback to Superintendent APD including the talent and succession planning for designated key roles.
  • Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need a minimum level of Grade 10 education as well as at least 5 years’ experience in mining and fire & emergency response disciplines. In addition, you will have all or some of the following

  • Successful completion of accredited safety, fire, and emergency response training.
  • Competent in breathing apparatus, rescue from height, confined space rescue and fire response.
  • Experience in fire suppression equipment maintenance.
  • Current Occupational First Aid Certificate.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Pidgin.
  • Ability to write reports and have good computer skills in Word & Excel.
  • Proven man management and supervisory skills.
  • Good, demonstrated skills in Radio / telephone procedures.
  • Sound incident investigation skills.
  • Truck driving license.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
