Steamships Trading Company is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) Specialist to develop and implement strategies to enhance Steamships Logistics environment, social, and government performance.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The role focuses on reducing the environmental impact of logistics operations and ensuring compliance with local and international ESG standards. Including as follows;

• Design and implement programs to reduce carbon emissions, improve fuel efficiency, and promote sustainable practices in shipping, transportation, warehousing, and port operations.
• Monitor environmental metrics, including gas emissions, waste, water and energy use.

• Ensure safe, ethical working conditions for both the Group and its suppliers, with awareness of PNG’s labour and community dynamics, and align the Group’s practices accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with PNG’s environmental regulations, labour laws, and international ESG standards.
• Collect and analyse ESG data to track performance and identify trends and performance. Prepare sustainability reports and presentations.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility, ideally in logistics, shipping, transportation, or extractive industries in PNG or the Pacific region.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field.
• Knowledge of ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting standards.

• Strong analytical skills for data collection, metrics tracking, and reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and influence stakeholders.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
