Atlas is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Estimator to price construction, structural steel and Steel Haus modular building projects across Papua New Guinea.

This is not a role for someone who simply fills numbers into a spreadsheet.

We need someone who can read a set of drawings, understand how the project will actually be built and develop a complete, competitive price without leaving costly surprises behind.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll take ownership of estimates and tenders across construction, civil works, structural steel fabrication and modular housing projects.

You’ll review drawings, specifications and scopes of work, prepare bills of quantities and build up rates using first-principles estimating.

You’ll work closely with our design, procurement, project and management teams to make sure each tender is accurate, properly qualified and commercially sound.

The role includes:

• Preparing detailed estimates and tenders.

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

• Producing accurate bills of quantities.

• Obtaining and assessing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Preparing pricing schedules, rates and cost breakdowns.

• Identifying commercial risks, exclusions and qualifications.

• Supporting tender reviews and submissions.

• Working with design and delivery teams to confirm construction methods and requirements.

• Maintaining historical cost information and supplier pricing.

• Helping Atlas price the right work at the right price.

WHO THIS SUITS

You’ll need strong construction knowledge, good commercial judgement and the discipline to check the details.

You should have:

• At least 3–5 years’ estimating experience in construction, civil works or steel fabrication.

• Strong skills in reading construction drawings and specifications.

• A sound understanding of construction methods and materials.

• Knowledge of PNG market pricing.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

• Good numerical and analytical ability.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• The ability to manage deadlines and work across several tenders.

A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Experience with estimating software, modular construction and structural steel fabrication will be highly regarded.

If you rely on guesswork, miss the exclusions or only discover the real cost after the project starts, this probably isn’t the role for you.
