Female Carpenter

The Organisation:

Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and motivated Female Carpenter to join our campus Support Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of carpentry, construction, repair, renovation, and maintenance works across the university campus. You will contribute to maintaining safe, functional, and well-presented facilities that support staff, students, and visitors, while working collaboratively within a diverse and professional team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry or a related construction trade from a registered training organisation.
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience in carpentry, repairs, renovations, and general building maintenance, preferably in an institutional or commercial environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of carpentry, joinery, building, and construction practices, including the ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and campus residents.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team and cross‑cultural environment.
  • Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles, along with the ability to provide clear verbal and written reports when required.
