Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our technical team. In this role, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of hospital and medical equipment. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with excellent interpersonal skills, ensuring our healthcare clients receive prompt, professional, and compliant service that minimizes downtime and supports exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning:
- Perform on-site installation, setup, calibration, and commissioning of new medical/hospital equipment (e.g., patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, diagnostic devices, and hospital furniture systems).
- Verify equipment functionality against specifications and conduct performance tests.
- Provide initial operational training to clinical staff upon installation.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment efficiently to minimize client downtime.
- Manage and replenish a car stock of essential spare parts and tools.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Adhere strictly to all regulatory standards, including Good Distribution Practices, manufacturer guidelines, and hospital safety protocols.
- Complete detailed service reports, installation certificates, and compliance documentation for each job.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts usage, and client interactions in the company CRM/ERP system.
Customer Support & Communication:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients, building strong professional relationships.
- Communicate clearly with clinical staff, biomedical departments, and internal sales teams regarding service status and recommendations.
- Proactively identify client needs and opportunities for service contracts or additional support.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with product training, technical manuals, and industry best practices.
- Provide feedback to the management and procurement teams on equipment performance and recurring issues.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Medical Technology, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a Field Service Engineer, Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET), or in a similar role servicing medical/hospital equipment.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read schematics, diagnose electrical/electronic systems, and use diagnostic software/tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel daily within the assigned region (occasional overnight travel may be required).
- Physical ability to lift/move equipment (up to [e.g., 30 kg) and work in various hospital environments.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or similar credential.
- Experience with specific equipment types (e.g., patient monitoring systems, infusion technology, laboratory analyzers, or imaging devices).
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as ISO 13485, FDA CFR 21, or local medical device directives.
- Experience working directly with healthcare providers (hospitals, clinics, labs).
