FINANCE INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGER

We are pleased to announce an open vacancy exists in our Finance Department for a qualified and experienced Finance Internal Audit Manager.

Based in Port Moresby, this position will operationally report to the Chief Financial Officer according to the specific description outlined below. is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance over PNG Air's financial, operational and compliance activities. The role evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes, enterprise risk management and financial reporting controls while promoting continuous improvement across the organization.

The incumbent leads risk-based internal audits, investigates control weaknesses and fraud risks, ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and provides practical recommendations to strengthen governance, safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain the annual risk-based Internal Audit Plan.
• Conduct financial enterprise-wide risk assessments to determine audit priorities.
• Present audit plans to Executive Management team.
• Ensure audit coverage aligns with PNG Air's strategic objectives.
• Lead audits of all financial processes
• Evaluate the effectiveness of financial and operational internal controls.
• Review segregation of duties.
• Identify weaknesses in internal control environments.
• Recommend practical control improvements.
• Monitor implementation of agreed management actions.
• Conduct operational audits across all departments
• Lead fraud investigations.
• Identify fraud indicators and emerging risks.
• Review whistle-blower reports.
• Recommend fraud prevention controls.
• Support enterprise risk management activities.
• Report significant risks to Executive Management.
• Work with Executive Management to assess adequacy of mitigation plans
• Prepare professional audit reports.
• Present findings to Executive Management.
• Provide practical recommendations.
• Monitor closure of audit findings.
• Escalate overdue actions
• Provide audit documentation.
• Assist management in resolving audit findings.
• Supervise Internal Audit staff.
• Allocate audit assignments.
• Review working papers.
• Maintain professional audit standards.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA Australia or similar qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, audit or risk management.
• Minimum 3 years in a management or senior audit role.
• Experience within aviation, transport or large corporate organisations is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience leading financial and operational audits.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
