FINANCE INTERNAL AUDIT OFFICER

We are pleased to announce an open vacancy exists in our Finance Department for a qualified and experienced Finance Internal Audit Officer.

Based in Port Moresby, this position will operationally report to the Finance Internal Audit Manager according to the specific description outlined below. The incumbent supports the Finance Internal Audit Manager in delivering independent assurance over PNG Air’s financial, operational and compliance activities. The role assists in planning and conducting risk-based audits, evaluating internal controls, identifying control weaknesses, monitoring implementation of audit recommendations and promoting good governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in developing annual risk-based audit plans and audit programs.
• Conduct financial, operational and compliance audits in accordance with approved audit plans.
• Review internal controls over revenue, treasury, procurement, payroll, inventory, fixed assets and financial reporting.
• Perform audit testing, analyse transactions and prepare audit working papers.
• Identify control deficiencies, compliance breaches and process improvement opportunities.
• Assist in fraud investigations and gather supporting evidence where required.
• Prepare draft audit reports with practical recommendations.
• Follow up outstanding audit findings and verify implementation of agreed actions.
• Support external auditors by providing requested audit documentation.
• Maintain audit files in accordance with professional standards.
• Ensure confidentiality of all audit information.
• Undertake other audit assignments as directed by the Finance Internal Audit Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Progressing towards Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA Australia or similar qualification is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance, audit or risk management.
• Experience within aviation, transport or large corporate organisations is highly desirable.
