We now have an immediate vacancy for Fitters to join our already strong and vibrant Maintenance team in Pom and Lae. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, this role is assigned to a shift to oversee the continuous running of all machinery. The ideal candidate must understand the operations of all machinery within their area and carry out Preventative Maintenance and scheduled work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Manage Key Responsibilities and Competently Deliver the Department’s Strategy.
• Organize spare parts with a view to reducing downtime to a minimum. Working overtime if required, with punctuality being of great essence because they will be central to the improvement of the Plant generally across the Mill
• Ensure all daily and weekly checks are done on time so that repairs are also done in a timely manner
• To be present in their assigned area with their appropriate kit of tools and to continuously inspect, adjust, modify, and repair all machinery and associated equipment daily
• To daily complete all Maintenance requests by the Bakery operators and supervisors, and sign off as to their completion
• To complete all work, in a professional manner with all temporary repairs rectified
• To liaise with the Bakery/Supervisor and plan major work to minimize downtime
• Complete all extra assigned work professionally and in a timely manner
• Ensure that the Plant can be operated safely with minimal downtime and waste

To be considered for the role, you will need to have:

• A Maintenance Trade Certificate
• Minimum Grade 12 High School Certificate
• Previous experience in a Maintenance Fitting role
• Previous experience with continuous high-speed processing and packaging equipment in an industrial food production environment
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• At least three years’ experience preferably in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated success in a similar level position within the FMCG industries
• Preferably APTC graduate
