Float Driver - Prime Mover & Lowboy Float Trailer

Location: Port Moresby & Surrounding Regions

Vehicle Configuration:

• Prime Mover: Kenworth T659 6x4
• Trailer: Drake 50T Tri-Axle Lowboy Float (50ft length, 3.7m fixed width)
• Load Capacity: Up to 50 tonnes

PNG Industry Manpower Solutions (PIMS) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Float Driver to join our team based in Port Moresby. This role involves operating a Prime Mover and Lowboy Float Trailer to transport heavy loads across the region.

We’re looking for a reliable professional with proven experience in float operations, a strong safety record, and a commitment to excellence.

Licensing & Experience

• Valid Heavy Vehicle License suitable for operating a prime mover and lowboy float combination
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy haulage, including lowboy float operations
• Proven ability to transport oversized and heavy loads (up to 50T) in both urban and regional settings

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of load restraint techniques (chains, binders, blocking)
• Skilled in manoeuvring wide and long trailers in tight or congested areas
• Familiar with route planning for oversized loads, including permits and escort coordination
• Capable of conducting pre-start inspections, identifying mechanical issues, and reporting faults
• Sound understanding of PNG road regulations and transport compliance

Safety & Conduct

• Committed to safe driving practices and effective fatigue management
• Adherence to company policies on vehicle cleanliness, maintenance, and reporting
• Professional communication skills to liaise with clients, site personnel, and logistics teams

Additional Requirements

• Availability for early starts, extended hours, and overnight travel
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks related to load securing and trailer setup
• Willingness to work in variable terrain and weather conditions
