World Vision International Papua New Guinea (WVIPNG) has exciting opportunity for those of you who want a change and want to become part of a dynamic team. We are currently looking for suitable, qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the role of GEDSI Coordinator to be based in Port Moresby, National Capital District.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

In our continued effort to bring change WVPNG has entered into a partnership project with UN Women, local NGO Femili PNG and CSO Magna Carta to building on the gains of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in PNG, UN Women, UNFPA and UNOPS (Agencies) have commenced implementation of a joint initiative entitled “Soim Wokabaut: Gender-Based Violence Referral Pathways Programme”, financed under the Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI Global Europe).

The purpose of this role is to infuse technical guidance from gender and social inclusion perspectives into key project outcomes, and integrating planned GEDSI activities, particularly in the realms of gender, disability, and social inclusion. Furthermore, the role necessitates ensuring the project's adequate support. The role also involves the strengthening of the gender and social inclusion-related systems within the Province’s GBV referral pathway using WVPNG Transformational Development Tools.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership and collaboration with different stakeholders and right holder organization

  • Work in close collaboration with community, faith and sports leaders
  • Work with collaboration with Callan/OPDs Services
  • Support Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee & FSU in NCD and Eastern Highlands
  • Create strong working relationship with PNG Assemble of Disable Persons
  • Work with development partners UN Women on GEDSI shared goals and objectives
  • Work with Department for Community Development, Youth & Religion, including the GBV Secretariat on GEDSI shared goals and objectives
  • Strengthening networking with District Courts and Community Justice ensuring reporting mechanisms well-structured
  • Support CSOs, FBOs and WROs in capacity building system strengthening in the GBV referral pathway services
  • Support Churches Council to effectively address issues affecting vulnerable groups of people using Channels of Hope models
  • Representing WV GEDSI sector at meetings, conferences, workshops, dialogues internal and external

Communication & Advocacy work with CSOs, FBOs, Rugby Clubs and relevant departments for GEDSI

  • Network with partners to use their influence, platform and reach to target beneficiaries and reach mass population with advocacy messages and initiatives
  • Work with different governments, especially Department of Community Development, Youth & Religion and private sectors to advocate the rights of marginalized groups of people to have equal opportunity and engagement through basic services
  • Coordinate active participation in international and national events
  • Engaged WV Advocacy and Communication team to support in making transformational stories become visual and uploaded at Website

Training and roll out of Channels of Hope Models (Emerging World View/Becoming One/Celebrating Families/Restore)

  • Conduct baseline study to select and identify specific target sites and churches in Moresby Northeast, North-West, South
  • Conduct GEDSI assessment on the congregation/church members to determine most preferred COH Gender model
  • Support COH Gender Trainers/Facilitators with resources to conduct training on time within all selected communities
  • Ensure continuous improvement through training and meet participants’ needs

Custodian for all Safeguarding issues for NCD in POM Area program

  • Coordinate all Safeguarding issues within the project impact sites
  • Consult Safeguarding Coordinator to conduct child and adult safeguarding training to support CBOs/FBOs and other partners with Safeguarding orientation for new staff, contractors and casual workers
  • Know, understand and appreciation of World Vision’s Vision, Mission Statement and history to value your difference in deepen Our Promise to improving Wellbeing of all.
  • Demonstrate World Vision’s core values, programming principles, strategic objects, gender equity and equality, child well-being and child protection in programming and behaviors

Support on MEAL aspects of GEDSI program including Community Feedback Mechanisms (CFM)

  • In consultation with National Office and WV Support Office to monitor GEDSI activities, results and impact measurement of programs from a gender and social inclusion perspective.
  • Close collaboration with Program Quality for CFM, M&E and the Project Team and Project Partners for GEDSI analysis and facilitation using “Do- no Harm -Approaches.”

External engagement and representation on GEDSI matter for the organization in different forum

  • National GEDSI meeting
  • GEDSI coordination partnership meeting
  • Gender and Disability monthly meeting

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s in social work, Psychology, Community Development or Gender Field/Background or including,
  • Certificate in Safeguarding with previous volunteering/ organizational engagement
  • Certificate in Christian or other FBO community services engagement
  • Certificate in GEDSI related work towards behavior change, or training facilitation, volunteering, or advocacy
  • other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Experience social work or GEDSI related work, GEDSI integration. Networking, Communication & Advocacy skills with government bodies and donors, and experience with disability work and sector.
  • Experience in community development, relief and emergency work
  • Communication for behaviour change
  • Experience in community life and awareness of local custom tradition, awareness of security and safeguarding risks/mitigation and geography of the province
  • Financial management especially managing of grants.
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Understanding of GEDSI/GBV issues in PNG
  • Community entry and facilitation skills with FBOs, CSOs and local urban communities
  • Communication, Advocacy Events Organizing and IEC materials Management Skills
  • Project facilitation, monitoring and information management skills
  • Project report writing and knowledge of donor compliance requirements -EU/UN experience would be an advantage
  • Financial management, especially managing grants- EU/UN grants experience would be an advantage
  • Budget management skills-EU/UN experience would be an advantage
  • Is flexible and mobile to work alongside Program Quality, Operations and Management, Communications, safeguarding, fellow staff colleagues, and partners.
