The Role: General Manager Corporate Services
The client is seeking a high-calibre General Manager Corporate Services to provide strong leadership and management to the Corporate Services department, ensuring all corporate services are delivered in a timely, efficient manner, and to a high quality, enabling effective delivery of their core services.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be based in Port Moresby on a full-time basis. This role is vital for maximising the organisations ability to achieve strategic goals by enabling a professional, achievement-focused organisation and promoting a strong internal service culture.
Key Responsibilities
The General Manager Corporate Services will be accountable for a broad range of functions, including:
- Strategic Leadership and Planning: Assisting the CEO with the ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring of the company's strategic plan as it relates to Corporate Services, and establishing departmental targets that support company goals.
- Human Resources Oversight: Managing the HR team, overseeing the function to ensure the company attracts, develops, and retains highly engaged staff. This includes advising the CEO and Executive Management Team on HR matters, recommending policies, and managing staff communication and culture to align with strategic goals.
- ICT and Business Systems: Ensuring cost-effective, best practice, and sustainable ICT capability, including overseeing data security, technology upgrades, and providing strategic advice on business systems.
- Safety, Security, and Risk: Overseeing the delivery of effective risk management strategies to ensure the safety and security of staff and assets, and managing security personnel and operations.
- Financial and Compliance: Maintaining responsibility and accountability for Corporate Services expenditure and ensuring compliance with all company financial and procurement policies and procedures.
- Administration: Maintaining office efficiency, planning and implementing office systems, overseeing corporate records and asset registries, and managing vendor and office lease contracts.
- Performance Management and Culture: Implementing and maintaining a robust performance management system, coaching and supporting the Corporate Services management team, and providing a leadership role in driving the desired organisational culture.
To be considered for this crucial role, you must possess:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business Management or Administration, Public Administration, or a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 5-10 years of leadership and management experience in a similar role.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in preparing corporate strategy, finance management that supports core business and culture, and managing organisational risk and compliance.
- Technical Skills: Competency and hands-on experience in trending HR/Payroll, Safety, and IT software, along with good MS Skills.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent communication (written, verbal, and oral) and active listening skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and address conflicts constructively. The ideal candidate is a self-reliant, motivated, and resilient leader who is driven to achieve goals, proactive, and demonstrates great attention to detail.
