Reporting to the VP – Ports Services and Bulk Modalities, the General Manager PNG is responsible for all operational aspects including the tradability, management, safety and pollution prevention of P&O vessels and contracts in PNG. This role leads the Port Moresby head office and the operational sites to deliver cost effective, timely and high quality services to meet contractual requirements.

Key accountabilities include:

• All aspects of operational ship management, ensuring statutory and charter obligations are met
• Leadership and performance management of sea and shore based personnel
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management procedures
• Financial management and reporting
• Customer relations and business development

Experience & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Substantial experience in the management of marine operations across the areas of technical, budget development and control, human resources, industrial, operations and compliance
• Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency with substantial experience sailing in senior positions on Oil Tankers
• Demonstrated knowledge of Quality and Safety Management systems, particularly those related to the tanker shipping industry (ISM, SIRE, TMSA)
• ISM Auditor accreditation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
