Woodlark Mining is seeking an experienced and motivated GIS Geologist to join our Geology and Exploration team on Woodlark Island.

The GIS Geologist will provide GIS, spatial data management, geological mapping, and technical support to exploration and resource development activities. The role will work closely with Geologists, Survey, Mine Technical Services, Environmental, and other site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain geological GIS databases and spatial datasets.
  • Produce geological, structural, geochemical, drilling, exploration, topographic, and tenement maps.
  • Integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical, drilling, survey, and field data.
  • Provide GIS support for exploration planning, geological mapping, sampling, and drilling programmes.
  • Undertake spatial analysis to support geological interpretation and exploration targeting.
  • Prepare maps, figures, plans, and GIS outputs for technical reports and management presentations.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy, QA/QC, metadata, and database integrity.
  • Support geological modelling, resource development, mine planning, and environmental mapping as required.
  • Assist with field data collection and GIS requirements during exploration programmes.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with Woodlark Mining's HSE policies, procedures, and standards.

About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Geology, GIS, Geoscience, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a GIS Geologist, Geological GIS, or similar role within mining or mineral exploration.
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS, MapInfo and/or QGIS.
  • Experience managing geological and spatial databases.
  • Good understanding of geological mapping, exploration, drilling, sampling, and geoscientific data.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote mining and exploration environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and teamwork.

Desirable

Experience with Micromine, SQL, Python/ArcPy, remote sensing, UAV/drone data, GNSS/GPS, geochemical/geophysical datasets, or other geological modelling and database systems will be highly regarded.
