Position Summary
Hargy Oil Palms Limited is seeking a qualified and motivated GIS Officer to support data-driven decision-making through accurate and timely geospatial information. This role is instrumental in assisting management with strategic planning and operational compliance, particularly in relation to land use, replanting, and environmental conservation under RSPO guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with SH Extension and Sustainability teams to ensure new planting areas are correctly mapped and do not encroach into HCV/HCS or unapproved NPP areas.
- Support the GIS Manager in planning and supervising GIS data collection for Smallholder replanting areas.
- Update and maintain the GIS database with replanting data.
- Conduct land use change analysis for Smallholder areas using available sources.
- Assist in preventing encroachment into HCV/HCS areas prior to replanting.
- Fulfill ad hoc mapping and GIS requests from other departments.
- Perform any additional duties as directed by management.
RSPO and Workplace Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensuring personal and team compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Supporting enforcement of OH&S and risk procedures with third parties.
- Cooperating with company initiatives to comply with all relevant PNG laws and codes of practice.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The GIS Officer will assist in managing a small team of GIS data collectors.

Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Experience working in a fast-paced plantation or agricultural environment
- Proficient in GIS software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage relationships with landowners and field teams
- Leadership skills with the ability to coach and support operational staff
Desirable Attributes:
- Resilience and adaptability in uncertain or changing environments
- Strong team building and coordination abilities
- Practical understanding of RSPO and sustainability requirements
