Job Description
Position Title: Gym Attendant and Personal Trainer
Department: Gym
Reports To: Gym Supervisor/Head Trainer
Purpose of Position
We are seeking a motivated and reliable fitness professional to fill the role of Gym Attendant with Personal Training duties. This role requires someone who is passionate about fitness, enjoys helping others, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe training environment.
Key Responsibilities
Gym Attendant Duties:
- Greet members and guests and provide friendly, professional assistance
- Supervise gym floor to ensure safe use of equipment and proper conduct
- Enforce gym rules and support a respectful, inclusive environment
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Gym Manager
- Provide basic support with exercise technique and equipment use
Cleaning & Maintenance Duties:
- Regularly clean and sanitize gym equipment, mirrors, benches, and high-touch areas
- Sweep and mop floors, clean bathrooms, and empty rubbish bins as scheduled
- Restock paper towels, sanitizing spray, and other supplies
- Complete daily cleaning checklists and contribute to overall facility upkeep
- Ensure cleanliness during and after personal training sessions
Personal Training Duties:
- Deliver personalised one-on-one and small group fitness sessions
- Conduct fitness assessments and design tailored training programs
- Track client progress and adjust programs as needed
- Motivate and support clients in achieving their fitness goals
- Promote PT services to members and support member engagement/retention
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience in a gym, personal training, or cleaning role is desirable
- Attention to detail and cleanliness
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically fit and able to lift/move gym equipment when needed
- Able to work independently and follow instructions
- Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
Desirable Qualifications:
- Certificate III & IV in Fitness (or international equivalent)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of cleanliness, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Able to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Self-motivated and capable of managing time across PT, cleaning, and floor duties

Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety and Fire and Evacuation procedures
- Use safe manual handling techniques, safe and healthy work practices, maintain a clean and safe work environment and wear protective equipment as required
- Adhere to RPYC policy on Harassment in the Workplace
- Lead by example with compliance with company objectives, policies and procedures
- Ensure presentation standards are consistent with the Employee handbook including wearing of name badge and correct presentation of business attire.
- Participate in department and inter-department meetings and RPYC training initiatives
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective communication within the Club
- Complete all duties in compliance with RPYC standards
- Report any work-related health or safety hazards, faults, damages, injuries, accidents or cleaning needs as soon as practicable to the Club Manager and General Manager and/ or relevant Department Head
- Contribute to cost control through energy/water conservation and correct use and storage of equipment and materials
