HEAD OF CREDIT
The National Development Bank Limited (NDB) of Papua New Guinea is inviting qualified and suitable Papua New Guinean candidates to apply for the vacant position of Head of Credit.
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Credit is responsible for the bank’s credit function, establishing and maintaining internal controls and processes for credit assessments, restructuring, monitoring and actioning recoveries.
Key responsibilities
- Independent credit decisions in CRE primarily in the Institutional segment including
- Assessing risks
- Early engagement with deal teams and client visitation
- Ensuring proposals meet asset quality and risk management standards.
- Structuring lending/hedging requirements appropriately.
- Undertake in-depth trend and risk factor analysis in the commercial real estate sector and other industries in PNG (ie. economic conditions, property markets, regulatory issues, industry trends, legal risks, and financial analysis.
- Provide skilled advice and insight to bankers / product support partners in industry, credit and lending issues, developing the culture, awareness, understanding and acceptance of risk disciplines.
- Identify, escalate and closely manage problem and potential problem loans to ensure preferred outcome for the bank with minima loss
- Lead and participate in simplifying and improving risk policy processes and procedures to improve speed to market
- Guide and coach team capabilities in credit analysis and related operational skills
- Promoting a proactive risk management culture.
- Report on portfolio asset quality, deficiencies, improvements, areas of strength,
- Maintain relationships with key external stakeholders
Required Attributes
The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Banking, Finance or Accounting.
- 10+years of commercial banking experience with 5+ years in senior risk and compliance role preferably with a commercial bank.
- Advanced Credit Risk analysis skills and conversant with Lending Processes.
- Advanced technical skills in Financial Analysis.
- Credit evaluation experience with complex credits and structuring are involved
- Proven People Management Skills gained through leading teams in a high-performance work culture.
