The Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead the risk function of one of PNG's most progressive financial institutions. Reporting directly to the CEO, with a dotted line to the Board Risk Committee, the Head of Risk will oversee the bank's risk management activities to ensure risks are managed in accordance with the Board's risk appetite.

The role leads a risk team including Operational Risk, Credit Risk Analysis and Investigations, and works closely with the executive team on credit, market and operational risk matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the bank's compliance with prudential, statutory and regulatory requirements, including AML/CTF legislation and BPNG/FASU directions
• Oversee credit, market and operational risk, including risk registers, internal controls, and remediation of identified weaknesses
• Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators to identify emerging fraud, regulatory and money-laundering risk
• Manage compliance and financial crime policy, and oversee portfolio and credit risk monitoring
• Champion the bank's risk culture across its governance framework

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline.
• Experience across Market Analysis, Credit Analysis, Loan Structuring, Operational Risk and Treasury activities at a bank-wide level.
• Comprehensive understanding of local and international financial markets, risk, competitor activity, and the lending and non-lending products available in the local market.
• Superior communication and organisational skills, with a creative, outcome-focused and 'can do' approach.
• Exceptional leadership and self-management skills, with strong initiative and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet the Fit & Proper requirements of the Bank of Papua New Guinea.
