Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Electrician is responsible for electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery such as excavators, trucks, generators, and loaders. The role includes preventive maintenance (PMS) checks, diagnostics, and replacement of electrical components while ensuring all work is completed safely and on schedule. The electrician also supports mechanics during servicing and assists with general workshop tasks when required. The position reports to the Workshop Supervisor or Fleet Maintenance Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in commercial vehicles.
- Install and maintain wiring systems, lighting, control modules, and related components.
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electronic systems.
- Work on engine management systems (Euro IV and Euro V engines).
- Service, install, and fault-check vehicle air conditioning systems.
- Maintain job records and report completed work to the supervisor.
- Experience working with excavators, backhoes, loaders, and dump trucks.
- Exposure to hybrid vehicle systems.
Job Requirements:
- Certificate or trade qualification in Electrical or Heavy Equipment Maintenance.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working on heavy machinery electrical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read electrical diagrams.
- Team player with willingness to support general workshop duties.
- Physically fit and able to work in outdoor or field environments.
