We are seeking to recruit for the position of Nurse for our Safety, Health, Security & Risk – Medical Department. Reporting to the Senior Nurse, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible for assisting with providing professional, confidential and quality nursing and health care service to all clients to maximise employee well-being, health and physical fitness.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Deliver primary healthcare, occupational health services and emergency response support to employees and contractors.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, health surveillance activities and fitness-for-work medicals.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and medical documentation.
  • Support emergency response, trauma management, triage and medical evacuations.
  • Promote workforce health and wellbeing through education, preventative health and public health initiatives.
  • Manage pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, clinical equipment and inventory levels.
  • Participate in health surveillance, community health and workplace wellbeing programmes.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary medical team while maintaining professional and clinical standards

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Current registration and licence to practise as a Registered Nurse with the PNG Nursing Council (Mandatory)
  • Minimum three (3) years' post-registration clinical nursing experience (Mandatory)
  • Fluent in Tok Pisin and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse workforce (Mandatory)
  • Experience in emergency response, triage and acute patient care (Mandatory)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote and multidisciplinary environment (Mandatory)
  • Strong clinical assessment, patient management and medical record documentation skills (Mandatory)
  • Experience in occupational health, mining, resources or remote-site healthcare (Desirable)
  • Experience using electronic medical record and occupational health management systems (Desirable)
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Desirable)
  • Drug and alcohol testing certification (Desirable)
  • PNG Class 6 Driving Licence (Desirable)

The above role is Hidden Valley Mine site based

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
