We are seeking to recruit a Drilling Supervisor for our Mining Operations Department. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Senior Supervisor , the primary objective of this role is to supervise the Drillers & Trainees and ensure all operations of the Drills are conducted in a safe and productive manner in line with Hidden Valley Mine Standard Work Procedures.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Ensure all employees operating drills are adequately trained in all drilling procedures, include logging of drill meters and correct use of standard codes
• Ensure all drilling QAQC processes are adhered to and driven in the field
• Ensure all drilling SWAPs are understood and followed correctly by all drill crew members
• Deploy personnel effective on other duties when not required for drilling
• Set out drill patterns in the pit as per drilling plan provided by the Drill & Blast Engineer
• Coach drillers and trainees to identify and rectify hazards as part of their normal work
• Identify and develop members of the team
• Maintain daily records of bits and consumable usage and submit records to the Drill & Blast Senior Supervisor
• Maintain records of hole and metres drilled on daily drill production sheets and submit to the Drill & Blast Engineer.
• Enforce corrective PPE and safety compliance
• Assist in conducting toolbox meetings once for each drill & blast every rotation
• Carry out investigation of incidents, near misses and hazards ID involving drills or drill crews

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Minimum Grade 10 qualification desirable
• Ability to communicate in English and Tok pisin
• Able to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word)
• At least 2 years’ experience in Drill & Blast in a large scale mining environment
• Experience working at a supervisory level
• Performance management skills desirable
• Occupational First Aid Certificate
• Skills in Planning, Organising, and Scheduling work task
• Must be a Team Player and able to demonstrate Leadership Principal

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based
