We are seeking to recruit a Scheduler for our Fixed Plant Maintenance-Planning Department. Reporting to the Senior Planner & Scheduler. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for developing maintenance schedules for weekly and shutdown work execution, plans and activities for the plant, implement maintenance strategies, initiatives, and management of maintenance policies and procedures.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Strategic execution of the planning process and for the creation of the weekly execution schedule
- Planning of all work, including the forward log, by taking weekly schedules from the initial stages by developing detailed job scopes and preparation of estimates, through to the execution, completion and analyse steps of the work management process.
- Liaise with Health and Safety Department as necessary for review, approval and the designation of the safety procedures to be used during the execution of the weekly schedule.
- Inspect plant equipment to assess the scope of work, and determine and specialised requirements, trade resources, materials/spare parts, tools, and special equipment needed to complete the job. Remain informed on all machine and component reliability issues.
- Attend regular meetings with Maintenance and Operations Management review equipment performance, develop remedial actions as required and develop improvement plants for cost and performance.
- Input of all physical information (hour meter readings, SMU’s fuel consumption, trades time) into Pronto.
- Utilise Pronto Plant Maintenance to develop work orders for repetitive maintenance work. Work orders to include step by step maintenance tasks, safety tasks and permits required, lists of required parts & tools.
- Maintain a rolling maintenance forecast that considers operational constraints, resource and material availability, planned start dates, SM/PM P3 and P4 work orders, and carry-over tasks.
- Deliver the rolling schedule for stakeholder review, gather feedback, and conduct weekly backlog reviews to ensure effective prioritisation.
- Develop the Week 0 Lock-in Schedule using the rolling plan as a baseline, rescheduling incomplete work and confirming resource readiness prior to lock-in.
- Verify equipment availability, permits, materials, and resources before committing the schedule in the CMMS and finalising it for the baseline period.
- Consult with Maintenance and Operations Leadership team on P1 and P2 priority requests and integrate approved work into the schedule.
- Update reports, communicate key outcomes, and analyse schedule compliance to support continuous improvement.
- Develop long-term maintenance plans for recurring and preventive tasks to ensure operational continuity.
- Identify potential risks, bottlenecks, and conflicts in the maintenance schedule and develop contingency plans.
- Track work order progress daily, ensuring tasks are completed as planned and that any issues are flagged and addressed.
- Coordinate with external vendors or contractors for specialised maintenance tasks or equipment servicing.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Have Intermediate skill and be proficient with Microsoft Project.
- Be a certified tradesperson in Mechanical / Electrical trade or a Graduate Engineer.
- 3 years’ of experience or more as a Technician in a Mining / Processing Environment.
- 3 years or more as a Planner in a Mining / Processing Environment.
- Exposure to Maintenance Planning and Scheduling applications.
- Have working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, preferably Pronto.
- High level computer skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
- Strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Well-developed coaching & mentoring skills.
- Demonstrate excellent time management and organisation skills.
The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based.

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
