We are seeking to recruit for a Senior GIS Advisor for our Community Affairs Department, Reporting to the Lands and Compensation Specialist, the primary objective of this position is to coordinate and administer, capture, compile, update, manage all GIS database to access, store geospatial data and application for CA Department. Also provide data as required by other sections within the business but no limited to mining, survey, geology, environment, mine closure and research.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Import and export GIS datasets and provide advise & GIS Support
- Analyse data utilizing mapping software and production.
- Design spatial maps using geospatial data and analyse spatial and non-spatial information
- Development of database for capturing compensation, royalty, and other land uses
- Provide technical support to programs and projects
- Interpret Aerial photo and satellite imageries
- Observe workplace OHS policy
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, GIS or related field
- Over 5 years’ experience in mining or other extractive industry
- Advance skills, knowledge and competent in MapInfo/ArcGIS/ER Mapper and other GIS/CAD operating applications
- Basic programming and software knowledge
- Effective time management and problem solving skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills
- Possess effective report writing skills
- Self-starter
- High level of communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong focus towards Safety
- Possess and PNG Driving Licence Class 3/6

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
