We are seeking a Fixed Plant Reliability Technician to join our Fixed Plant Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, the successful candidate will execute and improve our Reliability Engineering Strategy, focusing on Condition Based Maintenance and defect elimination methodologies to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our Fixed Plant Processing Equipment.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Adhere to all Safety & Environmental policies and requirements.
- Perform Condition Monitoring tasks on fixed plant equipment using technologies such as:
- Thermography (motors, gearboxes, switch boards, bearings, heat exchangers)
- Visual/Non-destructive Testing (NDT) on tanks, pressure vessels, and other equipment
- Vibration Analysis (VA data collection, on-site analysis, simplified VA pen)
- Ultrasonic Leak Detection
- Oil Sampling and Analysis
- Monitor and maintain online vibration monitoring systems and assist with specification and commissioning.
- Maintain Equipment Asset Health database and issue exception reports.
- Support maintenance and production personnel in effective condition monitoring and reliability practices.
- Assist with troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and 5Why sessions for process losses and equipment failures.
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineers as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Degree or Trades qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience with gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, mills, or heavy plant equipment.
- Experience in visual inspections of pressure vessels, pipes, and structures.
- Proficiency in NDT inspection techniques (MT, PT & UT).
- Competent in VA data collection, Thermography, NDT.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (preferably Pronto).
- Valid PNG Class 3 or 6 Driver's License.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Tok Pisin.
- Experience in Crushing, Conveying, Grinding, and Processing equipment maintenance.
- Skills in Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasonics, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Ability to coach and develop subordinate personnel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Projects, PowerPoint, Visio).

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
