We are currently seeking to recruit a Process Control Engineer for our Fixed Plant Maintenance (FPM) Department. Reporting to the Senior Process Control Engineer, the successful applicant will oversee the maintenance, performance and availability of the control systems throughout the site and offer technical services to stakeholders.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Proficient in designing, configuring, integrating, and managing process control solutions, including data collection and reporting processes.
- Competent in programming, developing, and implementing engineering guidelines and standards, with expertise in DCS & PLC software programming. Yokogawa DCS, Allen Bradley PLC and Siemens PLC knowledge is desirable.
- Accountable for overall performance, maintenance, and enhancement of site process control systems.
- Assists in Developing and managing capital projects for control system enhancements.
- Establishes maintenance, upgrade, and replacement strategies for process control systems.
- Manages, reviews, and oversee updated system as-built drawings.
- Ensures availability of spare parts in the warehouse.
- Assists in development and implementation of new control strategies for plant stabilization and modification.
- Works with project development group and contractors to maintain site standards during design and implementation of new control systems.
- Coordinates process control and automation work with process plant day-to-day operations.
- Develops and manages process control alarm management strategy and logic bypass.
- Configures, monitors, and optimizes PI information management system to ensure accurate data reporting.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Tertiary engineering qualification (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronic, Computer Science or similar) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Operational, design and commissioning experiences with the following technologies:
- Yokogawa Centum VP DCS, Siemens S7 PLC, WinCC
- Rockwell Allen Bradley PLC (RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, CCW workbench),
- Rockwell Model Predictive Control (Advance Process Control)
- OSISOFT PI Historian,
- Citect SCADA, Toshiba V Series PLC, SIMATIC Drives
- Honeywell Down time Reporter
- DTS (Distributed Temperature System – Fire Detection)
- Knowledgeable in integrated system communication protocol such as MODBUS TCP/IP, ETHERNET I/P, PROFIBUS and OPC
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Visual Basic/ PowerShell)
- Basic networking knowledge, RDP, VLANS, Fiber Optic communication
- Loop tuning of single loop and cascade loop configurations
- Competent in programming, testing and implementation
- Sound troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Able to supervise and maintain rapport across all levels and all maintenance trades
The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
