We are seeking to recruit a Contracts Supervisor to join our Commercial Department – Contracts Section. Reporting to the Services Contracts Superintendent, the primary objective of this role is to support the contract management functions in administering high-value/high-risk service contracts, ensuring compliance, contractor performance and optimising delivery of value for money.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure contractors adhere to company safety policies, procedures and statutory requirements
  • Ensure procurement and contracting process are in accordance with company policies, procedures and best practices
  • Guide and assist Contract Owners in implementing the contract management plan for high-value service contracts
  • Facilitate regular contract review meetings with Contract Owners and Contractors
  • Record and distribute contract meeting minutes
  • Review contract compliance, performance monitoring and reporting
  • Monitor and analyse contract spend against budget for high-value service contracts
  • Assess and process invoice payments in accordance with the contract terms
  • Manage contractor relationship with a view to minimise commercial risk
  • Coordinate and resolve contractual issues arising from non-compliance, disputes, claims in a timely manner or escalate as appropriate
  • Actively Identify opportunities for business or process improvement

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Construction Management or related discipline
  • 7+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining, resources or construction industries
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in post-award contract management is essential
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Pronto experience will be an advantage
  • A positive attitude towards safety culture and a strong work ethic

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
