We are seeking to recruit a Reliability Engineer for our Mobile Fleet Maintenance (MFM) Department. Reporting to the Reliability and Planning Superintendent, the successful applicant will be responsible for analysing equipment performance data, identifying failure modes and implementing reliability and maintenance strategies to improve safety, reliability and cost efficiency of mobile earthmoving fleets.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Analyse equipment health, maintenance history, and performance trends to identify reliability issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct root cause and defect elimination investigations to reduce repeat failures and unplanned downtime.
  • Optimise preventative and predictive maintenance plans, component life cycles, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Utilise CMMS and condition monitoring systems to track KPI’s, reliability metrics, and cost performance.
  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, and OEMs to implement engineering solutions, reliability projects, and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Must have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in an open pit mining or heavy vehicle service environment.
  • Experience in data management of Dispatch Systems.
  • Experience in reliability analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent technical problem solving and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and focus on task setting and tracking to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical skills of other maintenance team members.
  • Must have a current class 3 or 6 PNG Driver’s license.

The above role is Hidden Valley Mine Site Based.

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
