We are seeking to recruit a Reliability Technician for our Mobile Fleet Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Reliability Engineer, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible to deliver the equipment condition monitoring program to ensure plant equipment is being maintained to high standards and to accurately report component wear in order to create planned maintenance tasks which will prevent unscheduled equipment downtime. The Reliability technician is also responsible for completing proactive inspections and intervening before equipment fails by raising work order in the CMMS (pronto) and escalation to supervision to address imminent equipment failure

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Follow all Safety & Environment policies and requirements.
  • Carry out Condition Monitoring tasks on various plant and equipment using the following major Conditioning Monitoring technologies, which includes;
    Familiar with Non-destructive testing (NDT) principles; Ultrasonic Thickness Test, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection and Weld Inspections Procedures. Visual/Non-destructive testing (NDT) on Mobile Equipment; Truck Chassis Repairs, Tray and King Pin Inspections and Reporting. Visual/Non-destructive testing (NDT) on Track Mobile Equipment; Undercarriage Inspections, Blade and Bucket Repairs Inspection and Reporting.Oil Sampling and result Analysis on all Mobile Equipment where required
  • Maintain Equipment Asset Health database, compile, and issue exception reports as needed.
  • Support maintenance and production personnel in the determination of condition monitoring and reliability practices most effective for all machinery.
  • Assist operations and maintenance with troubleshooting problems, participate in and/or lead RCAs, 5Why sessions as needed for process losses and equipment failures.
  • Assist the Reliability Engineers where required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Must have a Degree or Trades qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering fields
  • 1-3years’ experience in Mining Mobile Maintenance or other heavy plant equipment.
  • Experience with visual inspections of Mobile Equipment components & detail defects reporting.
  • Experience with NDT inspections techniques (MT,PT & UT)
  • Experience working with Heavy Mining Equipment such as Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Drills, Graders, Dozers and Dewatering Pumps.
  • Compilation of inspection reports in accordance with relevant standards
  • Sound communication & technical skills
  • Basic working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems preferably pronto or similar utilised in the work management process
  • Hold a valid PNG Class 3 or 6 Driver's License
  • Sound planning and organizational skills and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good oral and written communications skills in English and Tok Pisin

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
