We are seeking to recruit a Supervisor/Trainer – Supervisor Development Program (SDP) for our People Department, Training Section. Reporting to the Training Supervisor SDP, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible to provide quality, timely and accurate learning and administrative services for the development program’s supervisors, whilst adhering to all statutory requirements and Company’s safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Provide learning, training and assessment services to the Supervisor Development Program
  • Undertake reporting and scheduling of applicable training in an accurate and timely manner with an emphasis on training systems and assessment tools
  • Develop competency and learning outcome statements to allow training plans to be determined
  • Assist Supervisor in the identification of the training needs for their immediate subordinates and work the Supervisors to manage and implement training programs
  • Change Supervisor behaviour on job safety by conducting pre- start processes, housekeeping, pattern pre –planning, effective & timely problem and hazard reporting, preventative maintenance/operational strategies
  • Monitor own work performance against role requirement and personal performance plan
  • Manage Authorisation to Train and Log Book Systems, and the timely provision of all completed Training and Assessment documentation to the Training Administrators for loading into IBIS and filing
  • Report and discuss any suggestions or improvements to the current processes and procedures with the Training Supervisor and Training Superintendent
  • Deliver the Supervisor Development Program (SDP assigned candidates)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • PNG NTC accredited Trainer or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge in Supervisory level development programs
  • Proven track record of developing & delivering training programs within mining industry or similar
  • Proven and demonstrated ability to coach and develop subordinate personnel
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence change
  • Sound planning and organisational skills
  • Exceptional leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong safety leader
  • Possess valid and current PNG class 3 or 6 driving license
  • High level computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

The above role is Hidden Valley Mine Site based

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
