We are seeking to recruit a Gender Development Officer, for our PEOPLE – Community Affairs Department at Hidden Valley Mine Site. Reporting to the Superintendent Community Engagement, the successful applicant will be responsible for assisting and maintaining harmonious relationship with the Hidden Valley landowner communities with special focus on women and youth by working with all key stakeholder holders in planning and implementation of programs and projects.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Provide sections weekly reports to the Superintendent on weekly basis.
- Provide programs and projects reports after delivery.
- Work in close consultation with all key stakeholders in planning and development of programs and projects for
- Women and Youth in the Mine Land Owner villages.
- Develop an annual plan in consultation with the landowner women and youth groups and their leaders,
- Government, NGOs and Donor Organisation
- Work in collaboration with landowner leaders, women and youth groups, LLGs, Bulolo District Admin, MPG and other donor agencies on community development programs and projec
- Write project proposals for projects identified within the mine villages for possible funding under Benefit
- Sharing Agreement (BSA) or through other sources of funding.
- Attend to concerns issues raised by the landowner communities and maintain record of issues in the grievance register.
- From time to time, assist the Community Engagement Team in the roll out of community awareness and consultation programs.
- Attend to grievances and issues raised in the community concerning women and youth programs.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- With a Degree in Communication for Development or Public Admin or PNG Studies.
- 3-5 years community development experience particularly with working with women and youth at the community level in a Mine affected community.
- Experience in project proposal write ups for Women and Youth groups for donor funding.
- Experience in working with Government at all levels and with NGOs and Donor Organizatio
- Experience in working in remote areas
- Ability to negotiate with internal and external stakehold
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written skill
- Experience in project planning and managemen
- Experience in stakeholder managem
- Very good computer skill - word and excel computer skill
- Have class 3 driver’s licence

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
