We are seeking to recruit a Project Officer for Community Affairs Department. Reporting to the Superintendent Local Content & Agriculture the successful applicant will mainly be responsible for delivering community infrastructure projects, such as buildings, roads and bridges. Additionally, ensuring the effective and efficient management of contracts.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Investigate and provide reports to Community Project Specialist on the need projects within the mine impact areas.
  • Write-up proposals to source funding and material resources for implementation of the buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist Project Specialist to do scoping and costings of projects.
  • Work in close coordination with Admin team to ensure procurement and logistics of materials are completed and that materials are readily available before construction starts.
  • Liaise with community/local contact personnel to source out casuals or local contractors to assist with project implementations.
  • Liaise with the Department of Works, Bulolo District and its Local Level Government on care and maintenances of the public roads and infrastructures.
  • Gather information from Village Planning Committee and compile project submissions for BSA funding.
  • Support Community Project Specialist to ensure maintenance activities are carried out promptly and in an efficient manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections and report thereon, structures and assets such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls etc.
  • Assist Specialist to compile annual budgets relating to the Infrastructure projects.
  • Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and any other reports as required by the Specialist, Superintendent and Manager.
  • Manage and monitor budget and report any discrepancies to ensure compliance with company procedures in all financial transactions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering preferably with extensive experiences in Building & Architect.
  • 4 - 6 years of work experience in civil engineering, road works maintenances, construction and community projects
  • Very good project management skills.
  • Computer literate, demonstrated ability to use Microsoft programs and other engineering software.
  • Experiences in working in remote areas and under less supervision.
  • Very good writing and communication skills.
  • Very good planning and organisation skills
  • PNG Class 6 drivers licence

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
