We are seeking to recruit an Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Officer, for our MTS – Environment Department. Reporting to the EMS Advisor, the successful applicant will provide support in delivering technical expertise across the development, implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) for Hidden Valley Mine, aligning with the mine site’s Environmental Permit, Environmental Management Plan (EMP), and other statutory and regulatory requirements. A key component of this role is the integration and application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support environmental data management, spatial analysis, and reporting.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Assist in scheduling and conducting environmental inspections and audits, including reporting and recommendations
• Maintain and update the Environmental Risk Register
• Collect and manage evidence supporting environmental risk mitigation and compliance
• Deliver environmental awareness programs and training for staff, contractors and community stakeholders
• Manage site environmental databases, including QA/QC checks and data entry into Hyddstra, MP5 and GIS platforms
• Support EMS development, implementation, tracking and reporting
• Prepare timely internal reports and contribute to monthly and annual environmental reporting
• Coordinate data collation for Corporate Sustainability and GRI reporting
• Participate in environmental incident response, investigation and reporting
• Promote and uphold safety standards across all work activities

Qualification, Skills and Experience required:

• Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in the mining sector
• Experience with EMS and ISO 14001
• Experience with GIS software and spatial data management
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Report writing and MS Office proficiency
• PNG Drivers licence
