We are seeking to recruit a Mine Control Engineer for our Mine Technical Services Department. Reporting to the MTS –Technical Superintendent, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and safe operation of the mining activities.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Optimising Dispatch by coordinating the allocation of resources to various work areas based on the production schedules and priorities
  • Analyse dispatch data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement
  • Ensuring Daily and Weekly Production Reports are delivered on time with accurate information
  • Implement and maintain dispatch systems to track equipment, vehicles, and personnel movements in real-time
  • Work with dispatchers to establish and maintain effective communication channels with operators, supervisors, and other stakeholders to relay instructions, updates, and alerts
  • Upload Pit as-built, boundaries and dig blocks dxf files into the Modular server
  • Optimize resource utilization to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
  • Provide ongoing information to supervisors to ensure pit setup is optimized

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • A minimum of 4 years mine site experience in an Open Pit Mine
  • Bachelor in Mining Engineering
  • Must be experienced with Mining Specific CAD packages with Surpac or Deswik applications is an advantage
  • Experienced with the Modular System and Microsoft SQL Database
  • Demonstrate Strong interpersonal and communication skill with the ability to lead, mentor and coach subordinates
  • Must have Class 3 or 6 PNG Driving License
  • Strong trouble shooting skills with an aptitude towards lateral thinking.

The above role is Hidden Valley Mine Site Based.

Company Description: The Hidden Valley mine is an open pit gold and silver mine, situated in the Morobe province in Papua New Guinea, some 210km northwest of Port Moresby and approximately 90km south-southwest from Lae, the capital of the province. The mine is located at elevations between 2 800m and 1 700m above sea level within steep mountainous and forested terrain that experiences approximately 3m of rainfall per year. The major gold and silver deposits of Hidden Valley are located in the Morobe Granodiorite of the Wau Graben. Crushed ore is conveyed from the Hidden Valley pit via a 3.8km long overland pipe conveyor and is treated at the Hidden Valley processing plant, which uses a two stage crushing circuit followed by a SAG mill, gravity, CCD/Merril Crowe circuit for silver and carbon-in-leach circuit for the gold.
