Remote Unique Hotel | Papua New Guinea

An exceptional opportunity to lead a distinctive upmarket hotel in one of Papua New Guinea's remote and beautiful locations.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a small, high-quality hotel with fewer than 60 rooms. Several positions are available.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished hospitality professional who enjoys working in a remote environment, takes pride in exceptional guest service, and is capable of leading a team while maintaining high operational standards.

The Role

Reporting to the general manager, the Hotel Manager will have overall responsibility for the hotel's operations, guest experience, staff performance and commercial results. The successful candidate will be comfortable being highly visible and hands-on. In a small hotel, the manager is expected to lead from the front, solve problems quickly and ensure that every guest receives a consistently high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

 Oversee the daily operation of the hotel, including rooms, food and beverage, guest services, housekeeping and maintenance.

 Lead, motivate and develop the hotel team, creating a professional and positive working environment.

 Maintain consistently high standards of guest service and presentation.

 Manage to meet the targets of budget, costs, purchasing and operational performance.

 Monitor occupancy, revenue and other key performance indicators.

 Manage stock levels and purchasing in an environment where supplies may require careful planning and transportation.

 Ensure rooms, public areas, facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

 Work closely with local staff and communities and encourage staff development.

 Handle guest requests, complaints and unexpected operational issues professionally.

 Ensure appropriate health, safety, security and operating procedures are followed.

 Plan ahead for the particular logistical challenges of operating a hotel in a remote location.

 Represent the hotel professionally with guests, suppliers, business partners and the local community.

 Work closely with the management team to identify opportunities to improve the hotel's performance and guest experience.

About You

We are looking for a capable and experienced hospitality professional who combines strong management skills with a practical, hands-on approach and basic maintenance.

You will ideally have:

 Previous experience managing a hotel, resort, lodge or comparable hospitality operation.

 Proven leadership and staff-management experience.

 Strong understanding of hotel operations and financial management.

 Excellent guest-service and communication skills.

 The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

 Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

 A genuine commitment to maintaining high standards.

 The flexibility and resilience required to live and work in a remote location.

 Experience in Papua New Guinea, the Pacific, remote resorts or similar environments would be highly regarded. Most importantly, you will be someone who takes ownership, leads by example, gets things done and operate independently.

Working in a Remote Location

This position will suit someone who enjoys the lifestyle and challenges of working away from a major city. The successful applicant should be comfortable with the realities of remote hotel operations, including logistical constraints, limited access to suppliers and services, and the need to plan well ahead. At the same time, the position offers the opportunity to live and work in a unique part of Papua New Guinea and to be part of a distinctive hospitality operation.

What We Offer

 An opportunity to lead a unique upmarket hotel in Papua New Guinea.

 A senior management position with significant responsibility and autonomy as per company policies.

 Competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience.

 Accommodation and other employment benefits appropriate to a remote location.

 The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the hotel's performance and guest experience.

 A rewarding lifestyle in a unique and remote environment.
