Housing Officer
The Organisation:
Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.
The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and organised Housing Officer to oversee the day‑to‑day management and maintenance of university housing. In this role, you will be responsible for administering tenancy agreements, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, maintaining accurate housing records, and ensuring staff and student accommodation is safe, well‑maintained, and fit for purpose, contributing to a supportive and sustainable campus living environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in Carpentry, Joinery, Building Maintenance, or a related trade, with a recognised tradesman certificate.
- At least 3 years’ experience in housing management, facilities maintenance, property administration, or a related residential services role.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong practical and technical knowledge in building and maintenance trades, including carpentry, joinery, and plumbing.
- Sound understanding of project management processes, quality systems, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with others.
- Proven ability to prepare clear and accurate written and verbal reports.
- Highly organised with strong time‑management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
